Early Childhood Education

Program Overview

  • Ages 3&4, 6 Weeks–2 Years Old
  • Thurgood Marshall Elementary

Bar-T opened an Early Childhood Education program at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in July 2015 . Bar-T Kids Club was the school age child care provider at these schools prior to the Early Childhood programs opening and we are pleased to be able to provide care for infants through school-aged children.

As Bar-T has built many successful school age programs in Maryland, Bar-T Early Childhood programs are held to the same standard programmatically and through staffing. Our mission, our philosophy and the Bar-T culture all guide our staff to respect each of the kids and adults that participates in our programs as individuals, working to provide meaningful choices throughout all aspects of our programs. We go beyond creating environments that help to ensure both physical and emotional safety by listening, showing respect and helping each member of our community remember that they are of great worth.

Just like every community, each Bar-T center is unique. Although no Bar-T location is the same, you’ll always find the family atmosphere and sense of professionalism that permeates everything we do. In Early Childhood programs, we focus strongly on meeting the needs of the children individually and the family. We have an open door policy to all parents and encourage their involvement. We host different events in the center providing different opportunities for family involvement; Halloween parade, Thanksgiving feast, Mother’s Day Tea, Father’s Day Brunch, etc. Along with state required training, our staff participates in growth and development based on their personal goals. All staff are held to the same standards of providing quality care for each child. Each teacher understands the importance of your child and ensures they communicate to you all you need to know about their day. We feel our mission statement gives great insight into the type of organization that we are:

The Mission of Bar-T is to provide a unique experience in all of the programs we offer.
We strive to treat all children and adults as individuals.
We provide choices, and we listen, show respect and keep everyone safe.
We help people remember they are of great worth.

With the scope of care that Bar-T offers, the years of experience we have, and the sense of community that we nurture, there is no better choice for young families than Bar-T.

See What Everyone Is Saying…

It is such a great feeling to know that our family has found a child care center that is so loving and supportive of our kids. We have a two and five year old who have attended various centers over the past couple years. Bar-T by far exceeds the care and education of other centers. The Bar-T staff are personal, professional, and encouraging of the kids. The facility is clean, well-kept, and a great learning environment for kids of all ages. Between staff and the center director, there is always someone to answer questions and help guide the development of your child. Being one of two working parents, it is important for me to feel at ease when I leave my children every morning, knowing they are safe, learning, and well-cared for. There is not a day that has gone by that I have questioned any of that for my children.

We haven’t found a daycare that is so accommodating and realistic about the individual needs of children and strives to avoid the one-size fits all approach. The Director and teachers are open to working with families for the best interest of the child and are very thoughtful and candid about trying new things that seem to hamper traditional day-cares. The teachers/staff is very trustful and loving towards the children, and maintains an open dialogue with parents. Our daughters have grown socially and academically and continue to thrive daily.

The teachers at Bar-T is what makes sending my child to child care so easy. I feel at ease knowing the teachers are trained and knowledgeable about the children and their needs. The teachers communicate well and the entire center makes us feel like family. I trust them fully and are grateful for them every day. I know my son will always be loved, cared for and learning.
