Ranch Summer Camp Resources

We are looking forward to an awesome summer at camp! If you’ve already registered, here’s some important information that you need to know…

Before Your First Day of Camp

Camper Health Form

All campers need to have a health form on file before they arrive at camp for the first time. The good news: You can do it yourself (it doesn’t require a doctor’s signature)!

Please head on over to your “My Profile” page on http://registration.bar-t.com and fill it out today.

Medical Provider Clearance for High-Risk Individuals

If your child is considered high-risk for COVID-19, due to any medical conditions, recent procedures, or any other reason, we must have this form on file for them to attend camp.

Note: This form requires a doctors signature.

Please print this form, have it signed by a doctor, and bring it with you on the first day of camp.

Medication Administration Form

Please complete this form if your child requires prescription medication during the camp day.

Prescription medications (including EpiPens) must be sent in the original box with instructions from the doctor. We will collect medications directly from your car and keep/administer them in our First Aid/Nurse Station. It is important to note that everyone, campers and staff, must wear a face mask while in the First Aid/Nurse Station.

What to bring on your first day (and every day!)

What to Bring

Here’s a quick checklist of what your camper must bring with them each day to camp:

  • Face Mask – Please arrive at camp wearing a face mask.
  • Backpack (each item should be clearly labeled with the camper’s name):
    • Bathing Suit
    • Towel
    • Goggles (optional)
    • Lunch: Lunches are kept in a cooler (and will not be refrigerated), so please include an ice pack with your camper’s lunch and refrain from sending perishable items.
    • Back-Up Face Mask in a ziploc bag
    • Medications & Medication Authorization Form (if applicable)

Do Not Bring to Camp

Please do not bring: Water bottles, cell phones, video games/consoles, computers, ipods, L.O.L. dolls, other toys, jewelry, card collections, or sports equipment. Campers are not permitted to touch any personal items that do not belong to them, so please keep these items at home.

Lost & Found

For safety reasons, we will not have a camp-wide lost and found this summer. We will do our best to help lost items find their owner, but items left at camp for over 24 hours will be discarded. Please clearly label everything that your camper brings with them to avoid lost items. You can email us at Mountainside@bar-t.com if your camper is missing an item.

Sunscreen

A note about sunscreen: Please apply sunscreen before leaving the house in the morning. We will provide sunscreen throughout the camp day.

Upon arrival, you will be directed to one of three lanes where a Bar-T representative will greet you.

  • If you only have boy campers in your car you will proceed to the far right lanes.
  • If you have both a boy and a girl in the car, you will go to the center lanes.
  • If you only have girl campers to drop off, you will use the first lane on your left.
  • These will be clearly marked and a Bar-T staff member will be present to direct you. Please stay inside your car as your campers are checked in.

A Bar-T representative will greet you, collect your pre-screening form, ask for your child’s temperature (please do this before you leave the house), and confirm that your child has a face mask. After completing our daily check-in procedure, your camper can exit the car and we will assist them in finding their group.

When picking up in the afternoon, please follow the same directions as in the morning and a Bar-T staff member will bring your child to you. On Monday afternoon, we will be distributing pieces of paper with the basic information about your camper that we need to expedite the arrival and departure process. Please keep this on your car’s dashboard when dropping off or picking up, as it will greatly speed up the process.

Late Arrivals & Early Pick-Ups

If you arrive at camp after 9:00am, please use the entrance on Olney Laytonsville Road. When you arrive, please pull in the parking lot and stay in your car. Call us at 301-948-3819 and we will come and get your camper from your car.

Frequently Asked Questions

COVID-19:

How will you handle COVID-19-related situations?

All Bar-T programs follow CDC guidelines for summer camps (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/summer-camps.html). Key points include:
  • Cohorts – All of the Bar-T camps will be grouping the kids in cohorts to help minimize any potential exposure. Campers will remain with their cohort throughout the camp day and remain physically distanced from the campers in other cohorts.
  • Masks
    • Indoors – all campers and staff will be required to wear a mask at all times indoors
    • Buses – all campers and staff will be required to wear a mask while on buses (campers will also be physically distanced on buses and windows will be open whenever weather permits to increase ventilation)
    • Outdoors – all campers and staff will only be required to wear masks outdoors when we are unable to maintain physical distancing of 6′ or more. Campers and staff are always welcome to continue to wear masks as they are comfortable, regardless of location and distancing from others. Per the CDC guidelines, campers and staff will not be wearing masks when swimming.
  • Physical distancing –
    • Campers and staff will maintain at least 3′ of physical distance with other members of their camp cohort if masks are being worn.
    • Campers and staff will maintain at least 6′ of physical distance with other members of their camp cohort while outdoors and not wearing masks.
    • Campers and staff will maintain at least 6′ of physical distancing from staff and campers from other cohorts.
  • Daily Screening
    • Bar-T will be working with parents to screen campers each day to ensure all participants in the program are free of symptoms that may be associated with COVID, have not tested positive for COVID within the past 10 days, or been exposed within the past 10 days to anyone that has tested positive for COVID or is awaiting test results.
  • Hand washing – Bar-T will continue our increased emphasis on hand hygiene with more frequent hand washing throughout the camp day, prior to eating, and following use of shared equipment.
  • Cleaning and Disinfection – Bar-T will also continue our regular cleaning and disinfection, with emphasis placed on all high touch surfaces and any shared equipment.

SWIM LESSONS:

Can I sign up for swim lessons? Click here for more information about arranging swim lessons for your camper.

VISITING CAMPERS:

Can I visit my camper during the camp day?

Although we have been able to have an “open door” policy in years past, this year we will not be permitting visitors. It is simply not safe for us to have anyone on the property whom we do not have medical forms for.

If you need to pick-up your camper early, please remain in your car and we will bring your camper to your care.

FOOD:

What about lunch?

Your camper needs to bring a lunch each day. Upon arrival, camper lunches will be refrigerated until it’s time for lunch.

Do you serve snack?

Every day we offer campers both a snack and a popsicle. Campers have a choice for each and we only serve nut-free snacks.

WEATHER AND SUNSCREEN:

Do you sunscreen?

We provide sunscreen for your child and apply it throughout the day. To make sure they are sufficiently covered, please send them with their first application of sunscreen already applied.

If your camper requires prescription sunscreen, please send it with the Camper Medication Form and our on-site health technician will administer it.

Each of our counselors will have their own sunscreen bottle, which only they will touch, in order to prevent the spread of illness. Unless it is due to a medical condition, we cannot help your child apply sunscreen.

What if it rains?

We are bound to encounter some rain at some point this Summer, but it will not stop us from having a great day! If it is raining, we will continue with most of our activities as planned. This year camp is 100% outdoors unless there is severe weather.

In the event of severe storms, we utilize the upper barn and locker rooms as shelter. If you see rain in the forecast, please send your child with appropriate clothing as they will be outside all day.

SWIMMING/POOL:

How do the swim tests work?

Camper’s swimming ability will be evaluated on their first visit to the pool. If they are cleared to swim in the deeper areas, they will be given a green swim band, if they are not cleared, they will be given a red one. We are happy to reevaluate campers with a swim test upon their request.

ANIMALS AT CAMP:

Can I bring my pet dog/cat/lizard/chinchilla to camp?

No. Campers and families are not permitted to bring any animals (with the exception of service animals) on Bar-T property.

NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR:

What do you do if there is bullying or negative behavior?

We want each and every one of our campers to enjoy summer in an environment that is free of physical, emotional, and verbal harassment from others. Bar-T is a “No Bully Zone” and we will respond immediately to any incidents that involve these behaviors. Please let us know immediately if you or your camper has any questions or concerns about any of these issues.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP:

What should my camper bring to camp?

Please send your camper with a face mask, bag lunch, bathing suit, towel, comfortable clothes, and closed toed shoes each day.

Some days we will have a theme day and give the campers and option to dress up with the theme. These days are always optional!

What should we NOT bring to camp?

There are many things that should not be brought to camp, especially anything valuable. Please do not bring any of the following items: cell phones, video games, computers, ipods, jewelry, card collections, or sports equipment. Obviously any weapons, alcohol, pets, or drugs are prohibited.
