Ranch Activities & Sample Day
What does a day of camp look like?
While our outstanding counselors ensure that there is no limit to the fun with a continuously evolving list of activities, we know that it can be helpful to see the types of activities that make up our camper’s days at the Ranch.
Ranch activities include:
- Swimming
- Space Net
- Splash Pad
- Arts & Crafts
- Pottery
- Music & Dance
- Playground
- Archery
- Climbing Wall
- Challenge Course
- Ziplines
- Sports & Games…
- Soccer
- Street Hockey in our enclosed rink
- Football
- Tennis Racket Baseball
- Basketball
- Volleyball
- Capture the Flag
- Ga Ga (a camp classic)
- and so much more!
Note: In the event of inclement weather, usually rain, we will continue with our scheduled activities as long as it is still safe to do so. In the event of severe weather, which is a rare occurrence, we will bring campers into the upper barn to shelter in place. Rainy days tend to be the most memorable ones!
Sample Ranch Day
What does a camp day look like?
While no two camp days are exactly alike, there are some activities that become familiar. Here is what a sample day could look like.
Time | Activity |
---|---|
9:00-9:15 | Team Time This is a time where the entire camp gathers to go over any special events, celebrate birthdays, and usually play some fun games before the day starts. Watch Video |
9:15-9:30 | Visit Locker Room Campers have the opportunity to drop off their backpacks and get ready for their day. A counselor may let campers know what their schedule looks like as well as give their group time to change into their bathing suits. |
9:30-10:00 | Arts & Crafts Groups will visit Arts & Crafts a few times a week, where they will complete theme based projects such as picture frames, painted dinosaurs, or masks to name a few. Watch Video |
10:00-10:30 | Swimming Morning swim time for groups is a structured swim where the whole group participates in an activity designed by our lifeguards. Counselors take this time to reapply sun block for the campers as well. Watch Video |
10:30-11:00 | Change and Play After swimming groups take the time to change out of their bathing suits and play a few games in-between activities. |
11:00-12:00 | Archery Campers have the opportunity to learn a number of new skills while at camp, one of these is archery. Each camp has certified archery instructors who pass their skills on to our campers. Watch Video |
12:00-12:30 | Lunch Groups retrieve their lunch bins from our refrigerator and eat lunch together. Afterwards they clean up their trash, separate their recyclables, and move on to their next activity. |
12:30-1:00 | Music & Dance Over the course of a session groups will visit Music & Dance a number of times to work on dances, singing, or improvisation. Twice a summer the camp puts on a parent show, to demonstrate what they have learned. Watch Video |
1:00-1:30 | Tennis-Ball Baseball Tennis-Ball Baseball is a staple of Bar-T summer games. Groups will often challenge each other and engage in some friendly competition. |
1:30-2:00 | Swimming Afternoon swim time is free swim. Campers have the opportunity to play with friends, use a kickboard, or go down the slide as many times as they wish. |
2:00-2:30 | Snack Time Each day groups visit the snack bar. There they have a wide selection of snacks and beverages to choose from at no additional cost. |
2:30-3:00 | Choice Time Counselors are encouraged to present the group with choices as to their activities during any “free time.” Choices may include: Dry-Dry-Wet, Knockout, Trivia Scavenger Hunt, or many other great games. Watch Video |
3:00-3:30 | Team Time At the end of the day the entire camp comes back together for a few dances, announcements, and dismissal for the bus ride back home. |
