Harvest Club

Walk into any Kids Club, Pre-K class, or Mountainside group, say “Farmer Nick,” and be prepared for the barrage of stories of the cool things he helped them grow, cook, or eat! When he’s not at Mountainside working in the high wind tunnel or on the farm growing crops, he’s sharing his passion and knowledge with kids at Harvest Camp in the summer and Harvest Club during the school year.

Our goal is to connect kids to the food they eat and help them form healthy habits through hands on gardening and cooking exercises. All of our activities use the produce grown at Mountainside by Farmer Nick with help from all the awesome Bar-T kids (at Harvest Camp and Mountainside Afterschool Club) who spend time on the farm.

Once a week for two weeks Farmer Nick visits Kids Clubs to bring lots of tasty produce from the farm and do hands-on cooking and gardening activities that will show everyone how to grow and prepare fresh veggies. Some recipes we have done in the past include: Pesto, Hummus, Candied Carrots, Homemade Salad Dressings, Zucchini Fritters, Pickles, Salsa, and so much more! You never know what we have in store because we make seasonal recipes with the freshest produce that is growing on the farm that month.

Harvest Club is free and open to everyone.

Have you found your Bar-T program?

While we’d love to have a Bar-T program at every elementary school, we’re not quite there yet. Check our School Programs Directory to see if we have a program nearby for your child. If we don’t, click the link to find out how to get Bar-T at your school!
